At the end of this month - one of the local stores is having their annual Battle for Stones River tournament - in memory of the Civil War battle of the same name. It's a great little tournament - 50 players - fun scenarios, etc. 1863 points (the year of the battle).
I'm torn between two armies (sounds like that song from the 70's) and feeling like a fool!
In one hand, I have a beautiful Ultramarine Bike army that I love to run. It's a capable army - but a lot of finesse to run. You can beat ANY army - but also lose to any army. They are painted well - and will be my main army at Adepticon.
On the other hand, I have an equally beautiful Space Wolf army. It's probably a bit more forgiving to play. Has a nice combo of in your face hard hitting stuff - as well as supporting units.
I like them both and can't decide between them.....

Well Al you have put yourself in quite a perdicament. You need to practice for Adepticon, so I say take your Bikes. However the Wolves are just plain awesome. Toughy.
I say take to the Wolves. Have fun with a fun army. You will have plenty of time get your bikes ready for Adepticon. I'm playing my Fists. I just cannot decide what I want to play.
The two armies are the polar opposites of each other. Personally I like the Loganwing list better but that's just me.
G
I would drop an attack bike and add all plasma to include combi plasma to the sgt on the short bike squad.
Maybe some flamers
I would go with wolves.
Besides they are painted better. =)
To be honest your wolve list won't be able to do much against most armoured opponents. You need long fang squads in there.
I like the bike list but don't really like the attack bikes with heavy bolters or the speeders with heavy bolters. They don't do much with most people taking alot of feel no pain units. I would go for more tank killing stuff.
My vote is for the bike list. Besides you need the practice to hone your bike skills for Adepticon and what better way to get it then by playing your army in the BFSR tourney.
Thanks for comments.....
corwindal - not sure I follow you on the "anti-armor" comment with the wolves...
Two cyclone Termies that Logan can give tank hunter to
Lascannon on razorback (bounced back and forth between AC and TL-LC for the second one).
Melta's in each Grey Hunter squads..
Lot's have High strenght HTH with Logan, Termies, and T-wolves....
It's meant to be an all comers list - not just a list designed to beat all armor....
With Bikes - I'm limited by the models I have and points to work with. The HB bikes are good against horde, DE and just sheer torrent of fire....
Basically you have 6 "Lascannon" shoots. That is fine with me but 2 of the those are mounted on low armour tanks that will probably die withen the first couple of turns turn. After that you will have just 4 Super krak shots. Now you have 4 Krak ("lascannon") shots that can only fire at one target. You don't want to leave your T Wolf Calvary exposed trying to take out vehicles when they are more there to take out dudes. Again this is my opinion. I like your bikes because you have a lot of tactical options with them and alot of good melta fire power that is tough to hurt because you have it buried in your units. I really feel like that is the better option.
Sorry I deleted twice. Kept changing my mind.
AL, quit being a sissy and pick one. Go with the Wolves. If you play your I wanna be like Sabote list then we will make fun of you. Just Sayin
But...but....I DO wanna be like Sabote....I really do!!!
